For us it was the third week in a row for a big half marathon, but this time without snow, and not in Essex.
With the clocks going forwards for British Summer Time it was a case of shorts and tshirts being left behind for another day of salopettes, silly hats, gloves, two coats, and big socks. However the sun shone for a while and the high tide kept out of the way (as that was ready for later in the day and the Boat Race) which made for all the right ingredients for a riverside run.

This is the first running of the Richmond 13.1 Half Marathon, a vision of Peter and Richard who run Perseverance Events - and with only one hiccup of the course with a little bit of flooding across the Old Deer Park for the last finish - preventing one particular path to be used - which made for a small assault course up the steps and back into the Park on the dry route...

With a send-off from the Deputy Mayor - the race started on time at 9am (which obviously felt like 8am!) and it was off around the top of the park and Kew Gardens, then down the tow path - which did have some icy patches in the early morning shade, then off to Ham house, Twickenham Locks and then back up the tow path to the Old Deer Park and the finish.

Here's a rough map (without the corrections due to the flooding) http://goo.gl/maps/tyQmp  with the spots on the course that we considered for the race photos. We're supporting the race again with profits going to the Poppy Factory charity, and every picture purchased helps a good cause - so no right clicking for watermarked copies ok !!

With 1340 runners completing the race - it's bound to be a popular one for many year to come !

all got a little bit excited jumping along the tow path

Great teamwork with friends to finish the race together
Overall the weather held just right, the wind held off for just long enough and as long as you were running - it was perfect conditions for a pre-london half marathon or for just doing a local half. We spotted four celebrities from the world of TV - how many did you see ?

Very well done to everyone finish on Sunday - an excellent effort and best wishes for your ongoing training and future races !

Next weekend is the ever popular Bolt Round the Holt, Paddock Wood Half Marathon (Full), Sussex Marathon (and Half Marathon) and the Bournemouth Bay Runs (Half and 10k).

We're just finishing off the Lewes 10k gallery as I type...so please bear with us whilst we catalogue that up

aaaand finally - if you want any photos from galleries that are still live from 2012 - get them now, before they are archived, and end up costing you more for them from the archive...

until next time,
Anthony
